Open your phone app and dial *#06#. If you see a number labelled EID, your phone supports eSIM.

iPhone: Settings → General → About, then look for EID or Digital SIM. Android: Settings → About phone, then look for EID or SIM status.

Make sure it's unlocked
If you bought your phone through a carrier contract, ask them whether it's unlocked. Phones bought outright usually are.

Will my phone work with Ciao Ciao Data?
Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Most iPhones from the XS onward, Google Pixel 3 and later, and recent Samsung Galaxy S and Z models support eSIM. To check, dial *#06#. If you see an EID number, your phone has eSIM hardware.
Do I get an Italian phone number?
No. Ciao Ciao Data plans are data-only. You can still call and message over data with WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage and similar apps, and your home number stays active on your physical SIM.
When should I install it?
Install the day before you leave, while you're on Wi-Fi at home. Keep the Ciao Ciao Data line's data turned off until you land, then switch it on and select it for mobile data.
When do my days start?
When your eSIM first connects to a network in Italy, not when you buy it. Buy weeks ahead if you like: a 30-day plan still gives you 30 days from the moment you land.
Why does my phone say to turn on Data Roaming?
Ciao Ciao Data connects through Italian networks as a travel line, so your phone treats it as roaming. Turn roaming on for the Ciao Ciao Data line only. It's included in your plan, with no extra charges. Keep roaming off on your home line.
Does it work outside Italy?
No. Ciao Ciao Data is built only for Italy, which is how we keep the price low. If your trip includes other countries, you'll need a regional plan for those days.
What if I run out of data?
Buy another plan from this page and install it the same way. Nothing renews or charges you automatically.
Can I buy from outside the US?
Not yet. For now, Ciao Ciao Data is only available to customers with a US billing address. If an order comes in with a billing address outside the US, we refund it in full automatically.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If you haven't installed your eSIM, email us within 30 days for a full refund, no reason needed. If you installed it and it won't connect in Italy, we'll help you fix it, and refund you if we can't. The full details are in our refund policy.
